A friend of mine said she didn’t want to try a common anti-wrinkle injection because she’d heard that once you stop, your face will droop and hit south as if you’re melting, as in the famous painting by Salvador Dali (The persistence of Memory).
There is absolutely no truth in this. So let me try and answer some of the common questions you might have about it…
(1) If you stop using anti-wrinkle injections, your wrinkles will worsen and your face will droop.
It relaxes the muscles under your skin. Once relaxed, the overlying skin will smooth out. If you do this regularly, the skin will smooth out and lose that permanent crease you have created through constant facial expressions. If you decide to stop, you just gradually get the creases back that you had in the first place… but your wrinkles will not get worse.
(2) It is toxic and no one knows the long-term effects.
It is a purified substance derived from the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. But the levels injected into the body are not high enough to be considered toxic. It has been used in the medical profession far longer than it has been used in the cosmetic industry. It is FDA approved and has gone through all the safety trials. So, it is safe.
(3) It is permanent
Anti-wrinkle injections are not permanent. It lasts for 3-6 months. After this, your wrinkles will gradually reappear.
(4) It will give me a frozen and expressionless look
It really depends on the amount injected. We believe in the natural look. So, it will be subtle, yet effective. People may comment on how great you’re looking or whether you have started a new health regime. They may ask you what skin care products you’re using!! Shhh…. Your secret is safe with us!!
(5) Once you start, you can’t stop!
This is not true. Very similar answer to number one query. You can stop anytime. Your wrinkles will not get worse. You will just have the wrinkles you had before treatment.
