Hydrafacial v Peel and Extractions
Hydrafacial has seen a great surge in popularity over the last couple of years. Championed by influencers and celebrities, you can see why.
However, we don’t use one. This is a deliberate choice as our experienced aesthetician, Cecilia, who has a decade of experience specialising in facials (and who has used a Hydrafacial a lot) finds she gets the best results with facials and hand extractions.
How do our facials work
The facials we perform have been developed to ensure we are exfoliating and hydrating the skin whilst its barrier function is protected. The result: healthy, glowing skin without the risk of redness or sensitivity that can occur by using any kind of machine. Cecilia is also known in the industry as the “queen of extractions”, and with good reason. The deep cleansing she performs with her skilled hands means it is specifically targeted and particularly thorough. A facial with her means you will come out feeling clean and refreshed – great for a skin spring clean.
Why are peels good?
We include a medical grade salicylic acid peel in our facials to remove dead skin cells and accelerate cell turnover. Dead skin cells make your skin look dull and pores to become clogged – which can also worsen acne. Using a medical grade peel reveals glowing skin, whilst protecting the skin’s barrier function.
Why are extractions beneficial?
Extractions are where the aesthetician removes any congestion from clogged pores. Clogged pores occur because of dead skin cells, pollution, increased oil, and dirt. Some skin products (comedogenic products) can clog pores too – such as make up, sunscreen and lotions. Always opt for a non-comedogenic product.
By expertly and gently extracting the pores it leads to a clearer complexion. Don’t be tempted to do this at home though; it will often result in infection, bruising, or scarring. Get professional support to make sure your skin is healthy, glowing and clear.
