Type “how do I remove a skin tag” into google and you’ll get a whole wrath of home remedies from tying a band around it, soaking it in apple cider vinegar, to cutting it off yourself (please don’t).
Skin tags are harmless growths found on about 50% of the population – and they don’t need to be removed unless they are bothering you for cosmetic reasons, or they’re catching on clothing.
If you have any you’d like removed then is best to ask a medical professional to do it. Our doctors can help – they remove a lot of skin tags quickly and painlessly. See video here: video 11
There are a couple of ways we can get rid of a skin tag, but most commonly we shave it off within a sterile clinical environment. How we do it:
1. We use a small amount of local anaesthetic to numb the area (similar to that a dentist uses)
2. Once the area is numb we use a sterile scalpel to shave the tag off.
3. Heat is used to seal the area and you’re left with a graze-like wound, which heals well.
From £115 for a skin tag (+£20 per additional tag). If you’re not sure if it is a skin tag, send us a pic and we are happy to advise on the best ways to help.
