Winter is coming! We seem to be speeding through Autumn and will soon be in the very cold winter months. This sudden drop in temperature is having a negative effect on all our skins, the cold outside and central heating inside is making our skins drier than ever. So, how do we control this? Here are our top 3 tips to help your dry skin this winter:
Moisturising is key this time of year. You may want to switch to a thicker moisturiser for everyday use, or use your cream twice a day. The Epionce skin range is particularly good for this time of year as their creams help to restore and protect our skin’s barrier. They’re great for your face (give us a call if you would like to know more). If your hands are feeling dry, we like to use Nursems – it was developed by a nurse who was washing her hands regularly, and it really does the trick.
If you are using an exfoliating acid in the evening, such as a glycolic, salicylic or even a retinol, you may need to cut down on the usage of this. Follow the rule ‘Listen to your skin’, if your skin has been very dry throughout the day then hold off using anything exfoliating (even if its flaking and you want to scrub those flakes off), moisturising will do the trick.
We all know that SPF should be worn all year round to protect us against UVA radiation, however it can also protect our skin’s barrier, protecting our skin from the effects of weather and contrasting temperatures.
Follow these tips and keep up with regular facials and your skin is sure to glow all through winter!
