Your skin deserves expert care, and when it comes to managing skin concerns, consulting a dermatologist in London is the best investment you can make. Whether you’re navigating rashes, acne scars, or mole checks, dermatologists provide the clinical expertise and tailored advice you need for lasting results.
Why Choose a Dermatologist for your Skin?
If you have a skin issue, then you are not alone. 30% of GP appointments are because of a dermatological complaint. We see a lot of patients who have been to their GP without success and who have often spent a lot of money trying over the counter medications and creams. This is particularly true in cases of breakouts and acne, as the cosmeceutical industry targets people with these concerns. Sadly, no matter what you try, you may just need someone to help guide you on that journey to better skin. Itchy, inflamed, red, flaky, spotty – we’re here for you.
What does a Dermatologist Do?
During a consultation, a dermatologist will go through your medical history, examine your skin (sensitively) and go through your key concerns. They will then recommend a treatment plan and explain expected results and timelines for these results. The best dermatologists will also empower you with the knowledge of how to keep your skin well at home too. It is worth seeing a specialist for your skin concern as it will often mean less time feeling itchy, uncomfortable, or low about your skin. A lot of conditions can be treated successfully with one session and at-home prescriptions, whereas others may need a couple of appointments to ensure long term success.

It depends on the condition. Quite often a rash may be treated in one session – or even a suspected mole can be removed on the day for further testing. Longer term conditions such as acne or eczema may need closer management. It is worth discussing this at the point of booking and with the dermatologist in the consultation. This means that the treatment fits with your needs. Some patients like to be seen regularly for reassurance, and our dermatologists always recommend annual skin checks for skin cancer screening.
Yes – It is worth noting that prescriptions are then payable at the pharmacy and medications vary in cost. We will provide you with an indication of costs but it is worth checking with the pharmacist too. Sometimes, your GP is happy to provide the medications going forwards with a letter from the dermatologist.
