Derm Visits: Clear, Relieved, Reassured

Charlotte – Dermatitis

After having her second child, Charlotte was struggling with dermatitis around her mouth, along her jaw and surrounding her eyes. This was new to her and causing her a fair amount of distress due to the itchy discomfort and the red raw skin. After using a lot of moisturisers from the Boots that were not helping, she sought out a local dermatologist to support her skin. Her dermatologist, Dr Maria Roest, here at No. 23 Skin, took the time to listen to everything that was going on in Charlotte’s life – it was apparent the stress of parenthood, plus no sleep, dry, cold weather and an infection was causing havoc for Charlotte. Fortunately this is something we see a lot and Dr Roest could successfully treat the condition. To get it under control, a combination of prescriptions – including an antibiotic and a topical cream were needed for a short period. Charlotte’s skin quickly healed over the next few weeks, leaving her grateful for the expertise that restored her comfort and confidence.

It is not very often that Rita shared her health stories, but she kindly gave us permission after struggling with rosacea for a period of time. Having grown up with ‘normal skin’ it has been very difficult and expensive to try and treat this complex and unpredictable issue herself. Laying on the foundation to cover up the redness that appeared was becoming a daily practice and one that upset her. Despite having a healthy diet and lifestyle, her rosacea would just flare up – seemingly for no reason. Having heard that BBL laser treatment can help this type of condition and knowing that No. 23 Skin are a medical clinic, she came in for an assessment and treatment. After two treatments her skin is looking remarkably clear. We recommend three sessions of BBL, but due to the marked improvement, Rita has decided to keep the final session until later in the year – results should last 6 months so we will reassess her skin at this point.

James – Eczema Treatment

James, in his mid-40s, had been dealing with persistent eczema that affected his daily life.
