Should I get a Mole Check?

There’s a lot we do for our health as we get older: the regular bloods, the mammograms, the dental check-ups. But mole checks? They’re often the thing that slips down the list.

At No. 23 Skin, we believe that checking your moles should be as routine as your cervical screening – and just as vital. Our dermatologists in London, based right in the heart of Kensington, are here to make skin health simple, reassuring and completely tailored to you.

This Isn’t Just Skin Deep

We get it. Most people don’t think about seeing a dermatologist unless something feels wrong. But when it comes to skin cancer, the earlier you act, the better the outcome. That’s where mole checks come in.

Think of them as your skin’s version of a screening – quiet, preventative power. A moment of calm in your busy calendar that could quite literally save your life. See our real patient skin stories here.

Our team includes consultant dermatologists with over 20 years’ experience in diagnosing skin cancer, backed by expertise from top NHS hospitals, US teaching hospitals and London-based private healthcare.

What is a Mole Check?

A mole check at No. 23 Skin is fast, discreet, and led by specialists who know what they’re doing. Using a dermatoscope (basically a magnifying lens for your skin), we examine every mole for signs of change – even the ones you’ve stopped noticing.

And we don’t rush you out the door. You’ll get your results there and then, with time to ask questions – even the ones you’re not sure are relevant. Because sometimes, what feels like “nothing” is worth checking. And that peace of mind? Priceless.

Best Clinic for a Mole Check London

Whilst we would love to see you, we know choice is important when selecting a private provider to look after your needs. Here are 5 quick steps of what to look for:

  1. Make sure you are going to a CQC registered clinic – this is a legal requirement, so shouldn’t be ignored.
  2. See a doctor if you have any skin concerns or if you want reassurance there and then. There are a lot of great nurse-led clinics out there, but they often have to refer images to a Dermatologist if they need a review/removal. This leads to delays when you’re worried.
  3. Check the availability of your dermatologist – yes, this should be a once-a-year check, but you want to be sure that you can follow up with the same doctor if required. On that note, it can be worth giving them a quick call to check their admin processes.
  4. If you’re going through your insurance, then please check they cover the doctor you are seeing. Here at No. 23 Skin we have three doctors who are covered by insurance but each patient’s policy is different, so do check yours. We are also able to refer you back to the NHS should you need something of concern removed. All good dermatologists should give you this option.
  5. Check the reviews. Google reviews are great at getting a feel for a place.

If you do choose us, then we’re located in Kensington and our clinic combines the rigour of consultant dermatology with the warmth of a neighbourhood practice. No white-coat vibes. Just honest advice, clinical excellence, and a team who actually take the time to listen.

We’re built by women and trusted by women who have high standards.
