Shave excision involves carefully removing the skin tag with a sterile blade after administering local anaesthetic. The area is then treated to minimise any scarring, leaving your skin smooth and clear. Most people opt for this option as the skin tag is removed completely on the day.

Liquid nitrogen, also known as cryotherapy, freezes the skin tag, causing it to fall off naturally. This method is quick, effective, and ideal for smaller skin tags. It takes a few days to drop off.

Both methods are minimally invasive and relatively painless. We normally use a local anesthetic for shave excision to ensure your comfort.

Most patients experience little to no downtime. For shave excision, the area may heal within 7-10 days. With cryotherapy, the skin tag usually falls off in about a week. You should keep the area clean and dry for the first 24-48 hours.

Both treatments are safe and effective. Mild redness, swelling, or irritation at the treatment site is normal and typically subsides quickly.

Once removed, skin tags typically do not return. However, new skin tags may develop over time due to genetics, friction, or other factors.
