Acne Treatment London

Dermatologist Acne Care

Acne doesn’t care if you’re smashing it at work, juggling kids, or booking Pilates between meetings. It shows up anyway — at 27, at 38, at 45 — and it can knock your confidence just when you need it most. We get it. So we have three clear options to say goodbye to breakouts:

1. Acne Dermatologist (starting point for most).

2. Aviclear Acne Laser.

3. Online Acne Dermatologist (at homefor mild-moderate cases).

Read on below for more information on each of these options…

Not Sure Where to Start?

Choose based on how severe your acne is — and how quickly you want it under control. Or simply call us/contact us here to tell us about your skin.

Acne is one of the biggest reasons people walk through our door (or into our inbox). And it’s one of the most rewarding things we treat. Because when you stop worrying about what’s happening on your face, you start saying yes to more: to skipping the concealer, to photos in daylight. To sweaty spin classes without a side of self-consciousness.

Give us a call on 02039411815 or complete the contact form here to talk through your options. No pressure. Just a little clarity (and a lot of support).

Why Trust Us?

We get it. Helen, our founder, was there too — juggling scarring and hormonal flare-ups while trying to navigate conflicting treatments and clinics. That’s what drove her to create No. 23 Skin: a place where your skin story is heard — and expertly cared for — in one joined-up plan.

1. Consultant Acne Dermatologist (In Person)

For stubborn, recurring, or hormonal acne that needs serious expertise

The most effective way to stop persistent breakouts.

If your acne keeps coming back, a Consultant Dermatologist gets to the root of it. You’ll receive a full medical assessment and a personalised treatment plan using prescription-only options where needed.

Best for: adult, hormonal, cystic or scarring acne
Results: every person is different – most see improvement in 6–8 weeks, with long-term control by 3 months (some faster, some longer, and we are always on hand to tweak treatment to optimise skin clearance).

This is acne treated properly — not masked. Delivered by experts who are the top of the dermatology profession.

Aviclear laser before and after

2. Aviclear Acne Laser Treatment

For those who want clearer skin, without the meds

Long-term acne control, without medication.

AviClear is a next-generation laser that calms oil production at the source — the key driver of breakouts. No long-term systemic tablets. Just fewer spots over time.

Best for: moderate to severe acne
Results: whilst everyone’s skin is individual, breakouts usually settle within 2–3 months, with continued improvement after treatment for 6 to 12 months. Included in the service is monthly touch-points for a year to review your progress and provide support when it is needed – ensuring best results.

A powerful option if you want clarity without systemic prescriptions.

online dermatologist

3. Online Acne Consultations

Expert advice from your sofa — affordable, flexible, and fast

Expert guidance, minus the clinic visit.

Our online dermatologist service gives you clear direction fast. Share photos, speak to a dermatologist by video, and receive a personalised plan — including prescriptions where appropriate.

Best for: mild to moderate acne
Results: early improvement in 6–8 weeks with consistent treatment. As with all skin treatments, your skin is individual and results take longer, sometimes they are quicker – we are on-hand and responsive throughout your journey to tweak your medications or treatment as needed – so you can be sure of the best results possible.

Straight answers. No guesswork.

(NB: not suitable for severe acne).

FAQs

Acne Treatment London
How do I know which acne treatment is right for me?

As a rough guide

  • a few breakouts that haven’t been treated before: online appointment, or Acne Dermatologist in-person.
  • lots of spots or blackheads that are stubborn: in-person acne dermatologist or Aviclear laser.
  • tried everything? See one of our acne dermatologists in person for long-term acne treatment to clear skin.

If you’re not sure where to start, our team can help you choose the best route based on your skin, your lifestyle, and your goals. You can also begin with an online consultation and we’ll advise you on next steps. Call us on 02039411815.

How long until I see results for my Acne Treatment?

Everyone’s skin responds differently. Many people see improvement within 2–3 months, but acne doesn’t follow a fixed timeline — some skins settle sooner, others need more time and adjustment.

As your skin improves, we evolve your treatment into a personalised maintenance plan designed to support long-term clarity and reduce the risk of future breakouts.

We don’t take a set-and-forget approach. We continue to review how your skin is responding and, where needed, refine your treatment plan to give it the best chance of working for you. We’re always responsive and support our patients at every step – so you’re not on your own.

How much does it cost for acne treatment in London with your Dermatologists?

Our Dermatologists are at the top of the tree in terms of acne treatment, qualifications, and outcomes. Our fees are fair and we have more than one option to suit your budget or circumstances.

  • Online Acne Dermatologist: £150
  • Consultant Dermatologist: £295
  • Consultant Dermatologist with PhD in Acne: £345

Book online or give us a call on 02039411815 to chat through who would be best for your skin.

Do you treat acne scarring too?

Yes. Once your active acne is under control, we can recommend treatments for post-acne marks or scarring — including microneedling, laser, or targeted skincare. We believe in treating skin holistically and supporting every stage of your journey.

Can I combine treatments?

Absolutely — and many of our clients do. Your dermatologist or practitioner will create a tailored plan that might include a mix of medical and non-medical approaches, depending on what your skin needs.

How do I book an acne treatment?

It’s really easy – book online here, call us on 02039411815, or contact us here. We love to chat about skin and we have experienced acne and breakouts, so we get it.

Can I book a treatment without a consultation?

For any medical acne treatments — including prescription care and AviClear acne laser— we always start with a consultation. It’s how we make sure you’re getting the right treatment, for the right reasons. We can do this online or in person.

Can I use the online dermatologist service if I’m already using prescription acne treatment?

Yes — our dermatology team can review what you’re using, assess your progress, and help you adjust or upgrade your routine. It’s also a good option if you want a second opinion.

Our doctors are all registered with the GMC and we have both community dermatologists and hospital consultant dermatologists who can help you navigate the optimal treatment.

What’s the difference between seeing a dermatologist and doing AviClear?

Dermatologists can prescribe medical treatments — including topical creams, antibiotics, or oral medications— and are best for complex, persistent, or hormonal acne. AviClear is a laser treatment that works brilliantly for moderate to severe acne, especially if you’d prefer not to take medication.

Do you treat adult acne?

Yes — in fact, adult acne is one of the most common types we treat. It’s especially common around the jawline, chin and cheeks, and often linked to hormones or stress. We take a full-skin approach to tackle both breakouts and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

How quickly will I see results?

This depends on the treatment. Some clients see changes in a few weeks, others take longer — especially with deep or hormonal acne. We’ll be honest with you about timelines and support you with the right skincare to get the best outcome. With the support of an expert dermatology team, you can be confident that your results will be quicker and last longer than self-treating with over the counter medications.

What products can I use for acne at home?

We keep things simple when you’re undergoing acne treatment. Generally, our consultant dermatologists will prescribe medications to get the quickest results and will opt for products from Cerave and La Roche Posay to keep your skin well supported.

Our dermatologists’ most recommended at-home acne products include:

  • Cleansers: Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, or CeraVe Blemish Control. If you have dry skin go for the more hydrating cleansers… more oily, go for the Blemish Control.
  • Moisturiser: Effaclar Duo+M. Don’t skip the moisturiser, even with oily skin as your skin may try and over-compensate.
  • Targeted treatment: Acnecide (benzoyl peroxide gel), or if you want to spend a bit more, think about a retinol like Alpharet by Skinbetter (which we can help you get with a prescription if needed).
  • SPFHeliocare 360 Oil-Free Gel SPF – love this. And also like the mineral tolerance fluid if you have sensitive skin.
